It was a love of history, the beauty of art in all mediums and the fun of meeting all types of people that drove my beautiful mother, Maria Alba de Warren to start the business in 1982. And while, my father, Peter, shared the same interests and passions, he was not able to join the business full time until he stopped his globetrotting and retired as CEO and Chairman of PepsiCo International. Together they honed their knowledge and skills as collectors, reading every book, attending lectures, visiting museums and quizzing scholars, both here and abroad.
When my mother passed away in 1991, I began helping my father at antique shows and so, my double life started in earnest…weekdays and some weekends I was in the crazy, fast-paced world of television and nights and many weekends, those not booked by my TV gig, were spent working at antique shows. In January of this year, we opened our shop at 228 Danbury Rd (route 7) in Wilton, CT and I hung up my TV hat for good. Meeting people of all types and backgrounds has been fun as has been the challenge of opening a brick and mortar business when the economy is as tight as it is.
So now I find myself looking under every rock I can find to increase the foot traffic to our store. A hint…right? When you visit our shop, you’ll find that our interest and priority is to find art in all forms that will not only, please the eye, but also make you smile. Our passion is to keep my mother’s tradition of excellence and love of art alive. When you visit our shop, we hope you’ll agree that we’ve done just that. Please visit our website at www.warrenantiques.com to see some great examples of what we carry. We have no doubt that when you visit us, you will find a hidden treasure that will make your home distinctive.
