Robert Simon Fine Art specializes in European and American paintings, with a focus on works of the Old Master period. In addition to offering select paintings, drawings, and works of art for sale, RSFA provides appraisal, consultative, and research services to private collectors and institutions. The gallery is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, one block from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Robert Simon Fine Art has handled important works in a variety of fields: Old Master Paintings and Sculpture including “gold-ground” panels, Mannerist paintings, Spanish Colonial Paintings and Sculpture, Neo-classical works, Spanish and Italian Baroque paintings, as well as pictures by nineteenth-century academic artists, and American Impressionists, among other categories. Our approach combines the scholarly and aesthetic: it is our aim to provide thoroughly researched and documented works of art of distinction and beauty. Special attention is paid to issues of conservation and presentation; in all situations we seek to offer our clients works of exceptional quality and value, both in terms of the marketplace and the history of art.

Robert B. Simon received his doctorate in art history from Columbia University and has lectured extensively and authored numerous publications in the fields of Old Master paintings, connoisseurship, valuation, and collecting. He has been a research fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as a consultant to museums, art dealers, institutions, and private collectors. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers and a Certified member of the Appraisers Association of America, of which he has served as President.
